What else can be said about the end of the 2019-20 and the start of the 2020-21 seasons besides that these are the craziest of times. Who would have said that hockey would be paused for such a long time and that this would create an uncertain atmosphere that us as support staffs are not accustomed to.

But here in the Q, we are super excited to be one of the first leagues to start up again. There have been many changes brought to the normal scenery such as a 60 games season, inner division games only and less travel. League officials worked hard to put together strict protocols and team support staffs have implemented them to assure the security of all players and team members.

Besides this crazy Covid time, there has been some movement throughout our teams. We would like to welcome Meagan Sullivan (AT with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan), Marie-Anne Delisle (AT with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens), Gabriel Perreault (PHT with the Rimouski Océanic), Joseph Ferrar and Marie-Félixe Rivard- Dionne (ATs with Rouyn-Noranda Huskies). AT Lucie Grandmont has moved to the Sherbrooke Phoenix and Chris MacDonald has returned to the Q after a season in the AHL and is now with the Moncton Wildcats. Best of luck to all with your club teams.

Also, congratulations to Kevin Elliott and Brian St-Louis for being named to the World Junior championship with the Canadian National junior team in December for the Xth time. It’s great to see support staff members from our league participate at the highest level.

Wishing everyone to get back to the game we all love as soon as possible. Stay safe.

A few notable milestones were reached this season by a few of our highly committed members. Congrats on a job well done for 400 games worked by René Arbour EM Shawinigan Cataracts, Robin Hunter AT, Halifax Mooseheads. For 800 games worked, Stéphane Savard, EM Quebec Remparts and Francis Denis, AT Blainville Armada.

Once again, it has been an honor and privilege to be part of our National Junior team that brought back gold at this year’s World Junior Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Also, part of our support staff is the very devoted and a real pro, Kyle Sutton, AT with the Shawinigan Cataracts.

We would also like to thank our league suppliers for all their help amidst the Coronavirus crisis in China, you guys rocked.

On a sad note, as the hockey world has come to a sudden halt, it is the same situation in the Q. Here, all our members are following league recommendations and the government’s quarantine regulations to the letter in the hopes that we will get hockey back ASAP. Stay safe and healthy, use this time to reconnect with family.

All the best to everyone moving forward and hoping to meet in June in Orlando.

With the playoffs well on their way in the Q, this marks the end of the league?s 50th season of operation. To celebrate this milestone, the league, with the help of the Shawinigan Cataractes, the only team that is as old as the league, put on another great Winter Classic. Ren? Arbour, EM, and Kyle Sutton, AT, from the Cats, were awesome hosts to Fran?ois H?bert, EM, and Mathieu Foster, AT, from the Rimouski Oc?anics.

Then the next afternoon it was Steve B?langer, AT, and St?phane Savard, EM, from the Qu?bec Remparts that had the privilege to take part in this event in beautiful St-Tite, Qu?bec. Kyle and Ren? had an instrumental role in making everything run smoothly for all 3 teams, great job guys.

As most of you know, we lost an important member of our hockey community in David ??DK?? Kelly. DK had a large part in helping to make our profession grow in the Q. Everybody was friends with David and he was always willing to help or give advice. DK will be deeply missed by all.

Wishing everyone all the best in the playoffs and safe travels to all.

See you all in Austin!
