Well things have sure been strange this offseason in the NCAA. The big topic of discussion has been when we will get back to playing games. Each conference has its own directives for its member schools and that has made things interesting for scheduling games. A few conferences are set to kick things off mid-November but others are still holding off until January. But it looks like we will probably be playing only conference games this season. We are still waiting to see what the NCAA leadership has in store for the National Tournament.

We got together as a NCAA group a number of times this summer on zoom. It was great to catch up with everyone and be able to discuss what people were hearing on a season as well as protocols moving forward. I think these calls helped share information on testing, cleaning, and travel as we get closer to finding out a season start.

This has definitely been a challenging summer for all of us and I know that we are all looking forward to getting back to some sort of normal as soon as we can. Be safe and hope to see everyone at the rink soon.

Here in the NCAA things have ground down to stop like all the other leagues. Would like to congratulate Atlantic Hockey champs American International, B1G champs Penn St., ECAC champs Cornell, NCHC champs North Dakota, WCHA champs Minnesota State, and Hockey East champs Boston College on wining regular season conference titles. Regular season titles are a hard thing to win so this is a huge accomplishment to these teams.

This is uncharted territory for all of us with the COVID-19 shutting everyone down. Most of us are working from home on things for next season as we wait for news that we can go back to work. But all we can do for now is stay home and keep our families safe.

Stay safe and let’s hope this all blows over soon I can see you all in Orlando this summer.

Hope everyone had a great offseason. Things in the NCAA are just getting started with most teams 2-3 weeks into the season. It was a busy off-season with a few members switching jobs and some new guys joining.  Everyone in the NCAA was sad to hear the passing of long-time Mercyhurst Equipment Manager Mike Folga. Mike will be greatly missed around the league. We give out best to the Folga family.

A big thank you to Anita, Natalie and all the members of the Executive Board for another great PHATS/SPHEM convention this summer. Best of luck to everyone in the NCAA this year and hope to catch up with everyone on the road.
