SPHEM PRESIDENT?S MESSAGE – Spring 2018
With Spring in the air, a new season is upon us. As teams wrap up the regular season, playoffs are now becoming clearer. Best of luck to all teams down the stretch.
We go to a new property this year in Orlando. The Orlando World Center Marriott is a great place for us to hold our annual meetings.
As I write this, I realize this is my last President?s Message in our newsletter. Hard to believe how fast these 6 years have flown by. I feel good about where we are as a society. I look forward to assisting our next President and continuing the growth that SPHEM is working towards.
Both societies are run by great members, I encourage all of you to get involved to better these fine groups. I thank our Executive Board and all their selfless hard work that they provide moving us forward.
I thank PHATS and their outstanding leadership. Chris Kingsley and Jim Ramsay have been great to work with, along with their executive boards. Without Anita Ramsay and Natalie Grant, we could not put on a meetings of this magnitude. They assist both boards in coordinating this fantastic event.
Congrats to our Hall of Fame recipient Rip Simonick. The career that he has had has been nothing short of amazing. He has been a mentor to so many equipment managers, including myself. We thank the Buffalo Sabres and the Buffalo Sabres alumni for sponsoring his reception. It should be a great evening with some great speakers.
Congrats also to our Frank and Vi Rowe recipient Scott Walker from Bauer.. He has been providing outstanding service for over 30 years. The game of hockey is about the people and giving back. These 2 guys are great examples.
We thank the NHL and the NHLPA for their continued support. Their support speaks volumes to the value both groups provide to the game of hockey.
Please register as soon as you can to assist us with our planning.
